OUR MISSION.....

Welcome to the Marine Corps League, Huntington, New York Detachment 792 website. The Marine Corps League exists to provide support to Marines and the Marine Corps Family, to honor all veterans regardless of their military affiliation, and to provide community support through contributory programs and scholarships, as well as Boys and Girls Scouting programs. The men and women Marines of the Huntington Detachment are proud of their affiliation with the Marine Corps Reserves' annual Toys-For-Tots Campaign which occurs in December and provides thousands of toys to underprivileged children throughout Long Island. Lastly, the Huntington Detachment is committed to maintaining the values and traditions set forth by the United States Marine Corps over its 233 year history. "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" isn't just a phrase, but an honor earned by all who proudly wear the Eagle Globe & Anchor. Semper Fidelis.

COMMANDANTS CORNER - JANUARY, 2012

As we embark on our 21st year of existence, let me reflect back on 2011 as well as previous years. Our predecessors set the stage for 792's involvement in community activities long ago. We have, in the past, and will continue to honor brother and sister veterans who have gone before us in patriotic events, honorary ceremonies and parades. We support both the Boy and Girl Scouts of America ceremonially as well as financially. We continue to support homeless veterans through the Salvation Army and we support patients at the VAMC in Northport with chits that would otherwise be unavailable to them. Our funding efforts at the Jones Beach Air Show and at the Fall Festival in huntington are more successful than ever. Our summer picnic and winter Christmas Party afford continued good old Marine Corps camaraderie to all those that joined us. Our Toys For Tots remains one of the best and the strongest in the nation and serves as a model for others to emulate.

MARINE CORPS LEAGUE, HUNTINGTON DETACHMENT 792 ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

The Huntington Detachment has two annual scholarships: the Louis DeAngelis scholarship and the George Toop Memorial Scholarship. The competition is open to all high school seniors who are the sons, daughters, grandsons and/or grandaughters of Huntington Detachment members. The scholarship applicants are required to write an essay, the subject of which is determined on a year-to-year basis, and reflects upon American freedom and patriotism. The scholarship award recipients are those who submit the winning essays.
